A native of the Pacific Northwest, Janis Edwards grew up in Gearhart and Seaside, Oregon Her childhood on the coast has given her a lasting appreciation for the amenities of small town life, including scenic surroundings, beaches and sunsets.
Janis is a self taught artist who enjoys all types of creativity. She has developed versatility in many mediums, most notably acrylics, oils, precious metal clay and fused glass.
Janis was an owner of Jan's Hobbicraft in Lebanon in the late 70's, before art and craft stores were popular. She taught adult art education classes in Lebanon, Albany and Corvallis Community Colleges. She was also given the opportunity to teach craft classes to a special group of women inmates at the Oregon Women's Correctional Facility in Salem.
